So it has been a long long time since they og fam has reunited.

Yeah at least for me as I stopped watching the anime after Sinnoh ended, so I'm not aware if another reunion happened in the following seasons.

Ahh reminds me of the old days where ash would help a cool (no pun intended) we'd imagine how they's look in his team, they have great chemistry with Pikachu and the others but Ash just leaves them and we'd get frustrated. Like catch it you moron that'd be a great addition to your team.
